(August 10, 2010 –
Hendersonville,
NC) The Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County invites the women of the community to the 2nd Annual High Tea Extravaganza – this time by venturing through the Looking Glass.
"The Mad Hatter’s High Tea Party is an opportunity for the women of Henderson County to come together in support and celebration of the next generation of dynamic young women in our community,” said Lutrelle O’Cain, event chairperson. All proceeds benefit Club programs designed to help girls, ages 10 to 16 years old, with life skills, self-esteem and healthy choices.
This ladies-only affair takes place Thursday, September 23, from 4-6 p.m. in the Club’s "Wonderland” room and features a lavish afternoon of tea and all of the trimmings, from champagne to chocolates. With the Mad Hatter theme, guests are encouraged to wear their most extraordinary hat. Other whimsical delights include a hat contest, flamingo croquet, and silent auction (auction preview at www.bgchendersonco.org). There will also be live entertainment and sumptuous traditional High Tea fare and beverages served. Tickets can be purchased by calling 693-9444.
General admission to the tea party is $75 per person. Guests may also choose to come as "Fairy Godmothers” for $100. New to the Club this year, the Fairy Godmother Society is a sorority of caring women who go above and beyond to inspire and empower the young women of the Club. Fairy Godmothers will receive special recognition at the tea.
"There is something very powerful and resonant about women helping women,” noted Karen Caruso, Founder and CEO of Mind Your Business, Inc., Premier Sponsor of the Mad Hatter’s High Tea Party.
